가끔씩 내 지나온 추억을 애상할 때가 있다. 

언제나 후회만 있다. 

후회라는 것은

지나간 것들에 대해 미련이 남는 것이다.

나는 항상 후회하는 삶을 살았던 것이다.

지나가버린 인연. 지나가버린 추억. 

지나가버린 소중한 것들에 대해

아쉬움과 미련이 남는 삶을 살았다.

내 남은 삶에는 아마도 외로움과 후회만이 남을 것이다.

그래도 한가지 다행인 것은, 지나가 버린 인연과 

지나가 버린 일들을 떠올릴 때면,

좋았던 기억과 좋았던 추억들이 있어서

그때로 여행을 떠날 수 있다.

조금의 알코올을 빌리면 

좋았던 그때의 기억으로 훌쩍 여행을 떠날 수 있는 것이다. 

나는 그 좋았던 기억에서 좋았던 사람이었을까.

나는 좀 부족한 사람이었다고 생각한다.

생각도 부족했고 사고도 부족했고 인격도 부족했다.

그런 부족한 나를 만나준 그녀에게 참 고맙다.

그녀는 그런 나에게 진실된 미소를 보여 줬다.

나는 그런 그녀를 실망시키지 않기 위해 무던히도 애를 썼지.

마치 맞지 않은 옷을 입은 나를 보고 누군가 "그 옷은 너에게 맞지 않아. 너무 크지 않은가?"

라는 말을 듣지 않도록 꼬깃꼬깃 넘치는 옷깃들을 짐짓 몸속으로 쑤셔 넣었던 것 같다.

환한 그때의 그녀의 미소가 떠오른다. 

어디서나 잘 지내기를. 

그리고 우리의 공통된 추억속에서 부디 나라는 존재를 잊기를 

갈망한다. 

하지만 나는

언제까지나 그대를 잊지 않겠다. 

항상 추억하고 고마운 기억만 기억하겠다. 

나는 그대에게 참 고맙다.
